This is a placeholder for the menu structure. There is some further detail on the recruits who enlisted at the outbreak of war in the FAQ, but there’s not a lot to see here.
Below this – in the menu tree – are two subsets of men who enlisted after the outbreak of the First World War, and were in action on or before 23 November 1914. Most of these men had prior military experience. Each has a subset with data about those men with prior military experience.
NEW RECRUITS WAR OUTBREAK 1 – The first half of the group
Service numbers 11629-13199
NEW RECRUITS WAR OUTBREAK 1 – The second half of the group
Service numbers 13200-18999
Both groups are a mish-mash of men who enlisted under either Regular terms of service, or Special Reserve terms of service. Come what may, they were now in for the duration of the war.
This group of men has been referred to as “Post Declaration Recruits” on the Great War Forum.
