The three subgroups are thus:
SPECIAL RESERVE 1 – Men already in the reserve, who transferred across to the Special Reserve on its establishment on 5th July 1908

SPECIAL RESERVE 2 – Men who joined the Special Reserve from July 1908 to April 1910
Service numbers 3/10210-3/10594
SPECIAL RESERVE 3 – Men who joined the Special Reserve from May 1910 to July 1914
Service numbers 3/10610-3/11628
